The Atlantic Center has had a thumb in the dam for over a decade, working millions of pro bono hours with a hyper efficient team and relying heavily on public defenders across the state and especially here, in Philadelphia.
There are always over fifty cases where the state is seeking to send another individual to one of the largest death rows in the world. With rigorous oversight and intervention, ACCR keeps the number of those cases that end in death near zero. In 2022 there was just one death verdict - and it could have been prevented.
This work doesn't happen without you. ACCR is largely funded by small gifts from frontline workers with enormous hearts. Every contribution we receive is invaluable to our growth in further addressing the needs of hundreds of incarcerated people deserving of your generosity.
